The founding story
01The Gap

A global market still lacks a universal ownership and authentication record.

Brands maintain records for their own watches. Marketplaces certify their own listings. No independent standard exists across the market.

A Rolex Daytona can change hands four or five times over its lifetime. The certificate from the first sale, if one was issued, may be in someone's drawer. By the third transfer, provenance is a mix of reputation, memory, paperwork, and a dealer's word.

The watch keeps moving. The proof often doesn't. Every transfer absorbs risk, not because collectors are careless, but because a durable, searchable record system never existed.

02The Origin

Why the registry exists.

Authentication existed. Permanent recordkeeping did not. Ownership changed. Documentation disappeared. Provenance was fragmented across dealers, brands, marketplaces, and private collections. No independent registry connected them.

Watch Safe was founded in Miami in 2024 to close that gap: a neutral, permanent, owner-controlled record that travels with the watch.

03The Record

One watch. One record. Maintained across ownership changes.

Every watch authenticated through Watch Safe enters the registry permanently. Search any serial and you know immediately whether it's in the registry. The full inspection record, imagery, provenance, and service history are released by the owner.

Each owner receives a blockchain-anchored digital certificate and a physical NFC hang tag. Service records, repairs, and maintenance log to the same file over time. The record belongs to the watch, not the transaction. When ownership changes, the proof travels with it. One record format, applied the same way across the market.

04 / The Network

Invite-only. Vetted in person. No self-certification.

Watch Safe partners are vetted before a single inspection goes on record. Credentials, category expertise, and inspection history are reviewed. There is no self-listing, no open applications.

Each partner is a specialist: movement technicians, manufacturer-trained professionals, and independent experts with decades of documented history. Every inspection is a full physical examination. Every finding is photographed and signed.

What the registry provides
01

The Registry

Every authenticated watch is permanently on file. Search any serial and confirm it's in the registry. Condition, provenance, imagery, and service history are released on the owner's terms.

No expiry. Transferable with every sale.
02

The Network

An invite-only community of independent expert authenticators. Every inspection is physical, documented, and signed. No remote certifications. No marketplace self-listing.

Invite-only. Physical inspection required.
03

The Certificate

A blockchain-anchored digital certificate and physical NFC hang tag are issued once per authentication, permanently tied to one serial. Search the serial or scan the tag.

Blockchain certificate + NFC tag. One per watch.

One inspection. A record that travels.

Find a Watch Safe partner near you. The inspection is documented, the certificate is issued, and anyone can verify the record by serial.
